Products are available for dogs and cats, birds, both domesticated and wild, fish, reptiles and the catch all category of small animals. That final grouping includes hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, gerbils and other little mammals.

The selection of food, particularly for dogs and cats, is vast but rather difficult to search. If you know specifically what you’re looking for you won’t have too much problem. You can search by manufacturer or specific words in a products name. On the other hand, if you’re trying to figure out what foods best meet your pets needs there isn’t much assistance available. While you can narrow your quest by canned, dry or pouches of food, there aren’t other parameters to help out. The same criticism applies to other categories of products but since the range is smaller, a systemized search probably isn’t as important.

The website has a section called Pet Care Sheets that appeared to be a repository of informative articles and other information to help the pet owner in caring for his animal. We were disappointed, however, to discover that these care sheets were little more than brief descriptions of product types for various animals with links to the products for purchase.

Petland Discounts accepts major credit cards as payment but no other options are available. They will send an email confirming shipment of orders but don’t offer shipment tracking beyond that.
